At first the thought of fanfic was a big WTF? for me. That might be due to the big amount of really crap fanfic out there. But the good? It's really damn good.
I don't even discuss SPN with friends even though they watch it, one friend is all about the Dean/Lisa and how it's perfect that he's with the only one he loves and whatever. I told her to never talk SPN with me ever again. *grumble* They can think what they want, as long as they keep it away from my happy little bubble that is the epic lovestory of Sam and Dean!
