Prompts Anyone?

Alright, guys. It's been a couple of months since I did one of these, but my muses are on life support or something right now. My writer's block is insane - made of brick and reinforced by steel or something - and I'm hoping that this will help.

So here's the deal: The only rule is that the fic you request will be 1000 words or less, so nothing so big that it can't be contained. No other rules or restrictions. As vague or specific as you want, and I will start working on them immediately.

Ooh, I love the prompt above. I do love them at their parenting, too. *g*
And I was going to 'second' that prompt because you've already got quite a few on your plate, but thinking about parenting led to Jensen's childhood and somehow, some way, I don't know how... I kind of want a story where Jensen sees one of those people that bullied him again. Like, they're on the same gate section at the airport, gassing up at the same gas station, waiting at the same red light... something short but eventually meaningful for Jensen, because he sees the other guy ended up doing... well, I don't know. Something boring. :p (You did mention Jensen has to learn how to let go of certain things and not keep them inside. I'm calling opportunity! Jared could even be there to play angry muscle. ;)

Jensen Runs Into an Old Acquaintence 1/2

At a routine stop in a gas station outside of San Diego, Jared is grabbing snacks while Jensen pays for fuel. It's not unusual, or out-of-the-ordinary in any way. In fact, they've stopped here a million times en route to TJ, just like they are today.

Jared is wavering between Combos and Pringles when he hears a boisterous voice say, “Ackles? I thought that was you.”

His attention snaps immediately to the check out, where Jensen is turning from the register to face some dude in a polo and khakis, clutching a bottle of motor oil in his hand. Jared can't see his face, but he can see Jensen's, and he knows something's not right.

“Sorry, do I know you?” Jensen asks, cautious as he stuffs a pack of cigarettes into the back pocket of his jeans and accepts his change from the attendant.

The guy laughs, kind of high pitched and strangled. “Dude, Joe Laughlin. We graduated together?”

Fuckin' hell. Jensen's shoulders tense, and the smile he flashes is anything but genuine. His hand runs over the back of his neck, and Jared knows that they weren't friends back in the day.

“Right,” Jensen nods, chuckle nervous as he casts a glance around the store. His look is hard to read when his eyes fall on Jared and then flick back to Joe immediately. “So what're ya doin' in California, man?” He aims for casual, and probably pulls it off for this douche he's talking to, but Jared's not fooled.

“My wife grew up here,” Joe explains. “She's a big fan, by the way. Always buyin' new Ollie shit. 'Bout flipped when I told her I knew you.” Jensen steps away from the counter and Joe steps up to pay. “Best sex I've ever had,” he says, and Jared wants to punch him. Not so much for talking to Jensen, as for being an loud, obnoxious asshole. “What about you? You still doin' the gay thing?”

And now he wants to punch him for talking to Jensen. With a grunt, he grabs the Combos and the Pringles, and heads for the counter.

“Yeah. That's not actually something you grow out of, Joe,” Jensen answers, shaking his head like he's more amused with the guy's idiocy than offended. It's fine, Jared can be offended enough for both of them.

Joe hasn't noticed the impossibly long shadow that Jared casts when he steps up behind him, but Jensen is shooting a look that tells him to stand the fuck down. “So, I thought you were livin' up in LA. What brings you down south?” Joe asks, and Jared almost speaks.

“We're actually headed down to Mexico for the weekend,” Jensen cuts him off, and though Jared can't see his face, he figures Joe is probably giving him a questioning look. “My boyfriend and I own a place down there.”

“Oh, that's right. I think I read that you had a boyfriend now,” Joe says off-handedly, taking his card back from the cashier and stuffing it into his pocket. He turns as he says, “You'll have to introduce me some time.”

Jared can't fight the smirk when this fucking soccer dad's eye catches on him, six and a half feet of ink, tan, and muscle on full display. “Hi. I'm Jared.”

He extends a hand to shake, and if he has to hand the bottle of lube in it to Jensen first, that's totally coincidental. Also coincidental is the possibility that he squeezes the guy's hand a little harder than he needs to, and maybe growls a little on releasing it. He can't help it – his boy is uncomfortable. The person making him feel that way deserves to have it given back to him. Times a thousand, if Jared has any say in the matter.

The reunion dissolves pretty quickly after that. Jared pays for his purchases, and by the time he's finished, Joe is long gone. Jensen's glaring at him from the door way. “What?” Jared shrugs, pushing out the door with his shoulder.

“You just couldn't leave it alone, could you?”

Jensen has never liked Jared stepping in to “defend his honor,” as he calls it. Jared's never really cared if Jensen likes it or not. This guy is his, and he'll be damned if anyone is going to fuck with him. It hasn't changed in eight years, and it isn't likely to any time soon.

They're almost to the Mexican border when Jared says, “How bad was he?”

Jensen tears his gaze away from the ocean and stares straight ahead, voice quiet and low. “Star linebacker.” He taps at the scar on his chin – the one Jared's never asked about. “Nasty right hook with his big-ass State Championship ring.” Before Jared can turn the car around, Jensen shakes his head and huffs a sardonic laugh. “Gave lousy head, though.”

It bugs him, Jared can tell. Jensen always jokes about the things that bother him the most. The worst part is that Jared can't change it. He can snarl and growl at the asshole now, but he can't take away what he did to Jensen back then. He could try, but he doesn't figure Jensen would much appreciate it.

Instead, he stretches his arm over the back of the passenger's seat and scratches his fingers against Jensen's scalp. “I think I can fix that for ya,” he winks, when Jensen turns to look at him.

With a roll of his eyes, Jensen settles a little and leans forward to crank the stereo. He doesn't say anything, but Jared knows him well enough to know that one ignorant moron from his past isn't enough to knock Jensen down for long. In fact, it's one of the things he loves most.

I love this! That guy's such an asshole, being a fan on Jensen and telling his wife he knows the guy he hit back in high school. Arrr. Love Jared's reaction and that he knows immediately what's wrong. Go Jared (especially for wanting to turn the car around to hurt the guy back.)

This guy is his, and he'll be damned if anyone is going to fuck with him.

The only thing Jared likes less than someone flirting with Jensen, is someone making Jensen uncomfortable. I kind of have a kink for his protective side, if that hasn't shown through yet!

Some people will never get it. Jensen's used to dealing with it. He'll punch someone for fucking with his family, but ignorance is something he's kind of learned to live with. Whether that's right or not, that's for you to decide.
