Prompts Anyone?

Alright, guys. It's been a couple of months since I did one of these, but my muses are on life support or something right now. My writer's block is insane - made of brick and reinforced by steel or something - and I'm hoping that this will help.

So here's the deal: The only rule is that the fic you request will be 1000 words or less, so nothing so big that it can't be contained. No other rules or restrictions. As vague or specific as you want, and I will start working on them immediately.

FIB: Brayden's POV 1/2

I don't know about h/c, but this has angst out the wazoo. Hope that's okay!
(Also, I'm warning for slightly underage sex here - nothing explicit, since I can't bring myself to think of little Bray that way - but definite allusions to it.)

He doesn't even bother asking this one's name. He's already had a little too much to drink, and he probably wouldn't remember it anyway. She's too loud, too eager, and too aggressive. Too fake. Too much.

He'll probably feel bad about it later, when Jensen's not in the hospital, fighting for his life. When Brayden's a little stronger. When he can stick around and look at the guy without feeling like a total failure, then he'll feel bad for using whoever this little brunette with the dark brown eyes is for his own personal comfort.

She doesn't come close to comparing to Demi, but when he puts her on her hands and knees, buries his hand in her hair, he can pretend. When Jensen dropped to the floor this morning, the first call he wanted to make wasn't to the hospital, or even Jared. He found her number quick, dialed, and then hung up before the phone rang against his ear. She's gone now. Everybody's leaving.

The girl calls out his name – uses a shit ton of terrible porn dialogue, too – but Brayden only responds with the movement of his hips. If she'd keep her damn mouth shut, maybe he could sink further into his imagination. He could convince himself that she's the one he wants to be with, and that they have to hurry before his dads get home with dinner. He could believe everything's still okay.

He was never the kid that got into magic, or fantasy movies, or any of that sci-fi bull shit. He didn't like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars because he couldn't separate himself from actual reality long enough to believe it. Right now, he wishes to hell he could.

Jensen's in a coma. Jared's a fucking wreck. Donna was a mess on the phone. Sophia tried to pep talk him when they went for coffee, but he could see the concern in her eyes. None of them knows if Jensen is going to make it out of this alive, and Brayden just wishes he could fucking blink his eyes and make it yesterday again.

He should have talked Jensen into going to the doctor sooner. Doesn't matter what Jared says, Brayden should have done something. He should have called Tom, made him come over and carry Jensen to the car or something. He shouldn't have lied to Jared about it. Maybe Jensen would be okay if Brayden had just gone with his gut and said something.

Or maybe it wouldn't matter at all. Maybe nothing any of them do ever matters. Maybe life is just this slippery track of mud and shit that everybody's gonna hit, no matter how hard they try to avoid it. Maybe they're just meant to crash and burn, alone and pissed off at their own powerlessness.

Maybe he's had a little more to drink than he thought.

It doesn't take him long to push this one over the edge, and then out the door. The backyard is still full of people, and a few of Brayden's friends are playing video games inside. Everywhere he turns, another body, offering him a smile, a drink, or the promise of some company. He plays it off, laughs and chats for a second as he makes his way toward the stairs.

Instead of walking to the end of the hall, Brayden makes a quick right at the top and pushes the door of Jared and Jensen's bedroom. It's a fucking disaster, clothes and shoes everywhere. Neither of his dads are all that tidy, but without Jared around the last few days, Jensen's closet apparently exploded.

The music from the party downstairs is muted in the background, and he can hear the sounds of the crowd swelling with laughter and then fading away again. The house may very well be full, but Brayden's never felt so alone.

Even when his dad left him the first time, or when he didn't come to visit Brayden in the hospital a couple of years ago, he had these guys there to watch out for him. He didn't know it at the time, had no reason to believe that they would step up to the plate, but they did. They've given him everything, and as much as he likes to insist that he can do it all on his own, he needs them. Not for the cash, or for any of the stuff they give him. He just needs to know that they're here, that they're okay, that they're not going to leave him.

The sound of his phone jolts him, and Brayden didn't even notice that he had fallen asleep. “What's wrong?” he answers, voice thick and head pounding.

“You busy?” Jared sound tired. Older. Ragged.

With a grunt, he rolls onto his back and pushes Jensen's Beastie Boys tee shirt away from his face. “Jay.”

There's a heavy breath on the other end, but Jared doesn't speak for a long time, and it scares Brayden a little bit. His heart bangs hard against his chest when he asks, “Is he,” but he can't finish the thought. Can't even think it.

“He's fine,” Jared assures him, though he sounds less than convinced. “He's gonna be fine. I just,” he stops himself and takes another breath. “You wanna come down here and hang out with me for awhile?”

He doesn't. There's nowhere Brayden wants to be less than there. But with Jared at the hospital - and with Jensen, even if he's not awake – is better than here, without them. “I'm leavin' right now.”

Oh, I'm loving it. Even though there's lot of teenage angst. And I just reread FIB this afternoon because I saw this prompt and wanted to get back in the story and one of the things I wondered about was whetehr or not Brayden called Demi to let her no, break up or no break up. Question answered :)

I sincerely thought about having him tell her, but I think the fact that he doesn't call is more real to me somehow. Like if he called, she would come comfort him, but he knows it wouldn't be real, or it wouldn't last, and he doesn't want to put himself through that. Or something. I don't know.

It seems that "Falling in the Black" has moved a lot of your readers, because y prompt has also something to do with that part of the Disclaimer verse ;o)

I went back and re-read FIB to get a feel for this, and I'm not a h/c person, but I kinda dig that story, too. I'm glad other people seem to like it. ;)
