Dammit, So You Think You Can Dance!

I honestly don't know the first thing about formal dance, but there is no show on television right now that I love more than Fox's So You Think You Can Dance. God, it's like a shot of 'feel-good, must-see TV' right in the middle of the week, and something about it makes me smile in every episode.
My only complaint is that every friggin' year, someone choreographs a contemporary piece to a song that I have never heard, but that will NEVER get the hell out of my head ever again. Last year, it was Gravity by Sara Bareilles.
This year, it's Christina Perri's
Dammit, now I want to write an angsty, tear-your-heart apart song fic.
So I've been thinking about this a lot lately, guys, and trying to come up with something new for you in this verse. The problem is that I'm not sure there's any part of the guys' story that I haven't told at this point. I'm thinking, unless I get slapped with some serious inspiration between now and then, that I'm going to start working on the Brayden future!fic that will round out the epic tale of skater boys and tattoo gods after I post my Big Bang in mid-July.
That's not to say that I'm not going to do the occasional comment fic or even fill something in somewhere down the road, but for now, I'm just running out of ideas. I feel like everything I come up with now is just a variation on something I've already done with them in that verse, and I would rather put it to bed than let it become boring (to read and write).
At this point, I don't know - I haven't made any final decisions. I'm trying to let it marinate without getting frustrated at this point. Cross your fingers - maybe I'll magically come up with something soon. Who knows.
Alright, I should really get back to work and stop rambling. Only eight days until vacation. Only eight days until vacation. Only eight days . . .

Date: 2010-07-03 09:48 pm (UTC)Gosh, when I read this post I kind of felt like my heart was breaking a little..I really feel attached to the disclaimer boys and when this verse finally comes to an end, it'll be like having to say final goodbyes to some really great friends that I'll never see again..
I think I'll always have a special place for the disclaimer boys..they truly are my favourite Js in this entire fandom!
So thank you for sharing them with us for as long as you did. Hopefully it won't be the end just yet but if it is i'm sure you'll send them off in true disclaimer fashion and it'll be great:)
Have a great vacation!

Date: 2010-07-03 11:54 pm (UTC)I'm not saying that the boys are done for good - and even if I write the "final" fic, there's always a chance they'll still pop in for holidays and sent cards for birthdays and whatnot.
But when I do send them off, you can be assured they will go out in grand fashion!

Date: 2010-07-04 04:59 am (UTC)On the other hand, the logical part of me says that it's not such a bad idea. The last thing you want is to draw it out. Remember those sixteen hundred seasons of buffy? Or when they kept doing One Tree Hill without Lucas and Peyton? And don't even get me started on Smallville. So I think when you run out of good ideas, go out with a bang instead of dying slowly, and not even remembering why you loved it so much in the first place because it's become this insane convoluted thing. I'm not saying that it's anywhere close to that now, but I think that would be worse than having it fade out nicely.
Also, I'm totally hopped up on cough syrup, so if I'm actually making any sort of sense... Don't expect it to last. ;)
Vacation? Fun!! Where to?

Date: 2010-07-05 05:58 am (UTC)Well, you know I adore your boys and if you feel that it's time for the final story then it's time. All I know is that I'm going to read anything else you write. Especially your big bang.
Yay! vacation. \o/

Date: 2010-07-05 02:37 pm (UTC)I'm glad you liked the song, though - apparently, a lot of people did. It went from not even being listed on iTunes, to being the #7 song on their pop charts overnight when the show aired. It was also the #1, 2, and 11 most-Googled topic the day after, so I guess I'm not alone in thinking it was a stand out.
I haven't made any final decisions on Disclaimer yet - I think there's a part of me that doesn't want to let it go, but another part that thinks that's a shitty reason for dragging it out when I have no new ideas for them. Big Bang goes up next week, and I'm currently working on something that's not exactly porn, but includes a lot of nudity and schmoop. My goal is to get it posted later today, but we'll see.
And I agree 100% - YAY VACATION!
