Part of the reason that I summarized their whole battle for custody of Brayden in the Sh*t Happens epilogue is because I don't know enough about CPS (especially in California) to comfortably write any of the adoption process in depth. I'll probably just occasionally hint at different points that I do know something about instead of making up the stuff I don't. :)
