Comment Fic
Dec. 10th, 2010 09:47 amSo, I woke up at 5:30 this morning with an upset stomach and starting watching The World Series of Poker on ESPN, as you do, until it was time to get ready for work. It was there that I heard this quote (I have no idea who to credit for this as I know nothing about the pro Poker circuit. I know he was wearing a hat. And sunglasses.): "Lady Luck hangs out with the guys who practice hard." So, uh, let that inspire you? I don't know, I just liked it. I was also sick, so take it for what it's worth, I guess.
A giant THANK YOU to
kiwiana for the Katie/Genevieve fic she wrote me in the
spn_fs_exchange, Those Nights Belong to Us. If femslash is your thing, check it out!
So, I decided to pinch hit for the
spn_fs_exchange and am currently putting the finishing touches on that fic, then I'm clear until
j2_afterclass in January. Well, I have a
hs_bingo card to play with but it's not due until May so I'm, ya know, procrastinating.
I ♥ you guys, but I suck at holiday cards and gifts. What I can do is comment fic. Here are the stipulations:
1.) Fic will be roughly 1000 words.
2.) No pairing is off-limits.
3.) You can request more than one prompt but I can only promise one fill per person, so make sure the fic you most want to see is prompted first.
4.) Prompts can be holiday-themed but they don't have to be, unless they come from the Disclaimer 'verse.

Maybe some schmoop/cuddle stuff or maybe them preparing something together for Christmas, and they are all in the kitchen and they end up bringing drinks but had lots of fun while not actually baking/cooking anything edible!

You know, something adorably snuggly and puppy pile-like, that'll warm you up as you write it. In exchange, I offer beta-services to any fic you like, and 1 (probably pathetic) attempt at a fic in return.
Hope work went well!

CC - Jensen freaks out over Christmas with Jared's family 1/2
Date: 2010-12-10 06:58 pm (UTC)He's been working on a mini-series for HBO – eighteen hour days, spent mostly in conference rooms, plotting camera angles in pre-production – so Christmas kind of snuck up on him this year. It's a mid-December phone call from his mother, inquiring about his flight information that reminds him of the holiday. It also reminds him that he hasn't booked a flight and that he needs to hire a personal assistant as soon as possible.
Christmas lights on the drive to and from work should have probably tipped him off but Jared is pretty focused most of the time and he honestly hasn't taken the time to notice them. Jensen isn't exactly the kind of guy who's going to make a big deal out of the holidays, either, though that's another situation all together.
Ready to drop into his bed and enjoy four hours of sleep, Jared steps through the front door at two o'clock in the morning, surprised to find a light on in the kitchen. Jensen's usually careful about turning them off when he leaves a room, especially before he heads to bed.
When he rounds the corner, he finds Jensen is standing at the stove, stirring something in a saucepan, dressed only in a pair of low-slung sweatpants. He's humming, smiling, and Jared can't help but stop in the doorway to watch, unwilling to interrupt.
“You want some hot chocolate? It’s riddled with caffeine and sugar but I figure you sleep through just about anything these days, so,” Jensen lets the sentence trail while he grabs a couple of mugs from the cabinet over his head.
Jared doesn’t answer, just crosses to Jensen’s place at the stove and rests his hands against the bare skin above his waistband. “What are you doing for Christmas?” he asks against Jensen’s neck, brushing his nose against the line of Jensen’s jaw.
Though he leans back into Jared’s touch, Jensen’s shoulders are tense. “Same thing I do every year, I guess. Why?” He’s hedging his answer, nowhere near as smooth as he thinks he is, which always makes Jared a little nervous.
Taking the mug that Jensen offers, Jared turns them, backs Jensen up to the counter and holds him steady with one hand while he takes a drink. “What do you do every year?” He tries to keep his expression playful over the top of the cup but references to Jensen’s life before usually make him unhappy, to say the least.
Suddenly fixated on the collar of Jared’s gray button down, Jensen shrugs. It’s probably supposed to look dismissive but it seems heavier, guilty. “I’ll probably just go out on Christmas Eve and watch A Christmas Story all day on Christmas. It’s not a big deal to me,” he explains, though his words are shaky and transparent.
Catching Jensen’s chin, Jared tugs his face until their eyes meet. “What about your parents?”
“They usually go to my aunt’s house in Iowa.” With a sly grin that does little to hide the weight in his words, he adds, “She’s not my biggest fan.”
Re: CC - Jensen freaks out over Christmas with Jared's family 2/2
Date: 2010-12-10 06:59 pm (UTC)“Dude, I just told you. My family goes to Iowa,” Jensen repeats, awkwardly bending his head to drink from his hot chocolate before Jared squeezes and then rubs his thumb along Jensen’s hairline. He freezes when the meaning of Jared’s words sink in. “Oh. Hell no.”
He probably shouldn’t smile but Jensen is so goddamn hot when he’s defiant. Trapping him against the counter, arms bracketed on either side, Jared bends to press their foreheads together. “Come on,” he says again, requesting rather than pleading. “It’s three days.” Jensen shudders against him when Jared’s breath ghosts over his hear. “Want you with me.”
Hand flat against Jared’s chest, Jensen pushes him back and raises a skeptical eyebrow. “You already bought my ticket, didn’t you?” Jared smirks and returns his attention to Jensen’s neck and collarbone, teeth worrying the skin, tongue laving over the marks until Jensen’s protests turn to moans. “You’re a manipulative bastard, you know that?”
Grabbing Jensen’s hands and placing them carefully, purposefully, against the counter, Jared backs away just enough to unbutton his shirt without breaking their kisses. “You done with that hot chocolate?” Jensen swallows hard, eyes on Jared’s mouth when he nods and runs his tongue over his bottom lip. “If you go in there and lose the pants, I’ll thank you for being so cooperative on this one.”
Jensen rolls his eyes, biting back his smile. He’s pushing his pants over his hips as he goes and Jared can hear him singing ‘Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer’ on his way to the bedroom.
After sticking the coffee mugs in the dishwasher and turning out the lights, Jared makes a mental note to buy his mom a nicer gift than usual for insisting that he bring Jensen home this year.

Date: 2010-12-10 08:02 pm (UTC)Emo Boys Being Emo 1/1
Date: 2010-12-10 08:30 pm (UTC)It still feels like nothing is right.
It’s strange because, in the beginning, nothing ever felt more right and now, for whatever reason, talking to Jared is a chore. Jensen would feel guilty, but Jared’s not exactly making the effort, either. They just kind of exist in the same space, go through the motions of the routine they’ve established and avoid talking about the awkward tension sitting in the middle of the room, poised to choke them both. It’s as though they both think it doesn’t exist if they don’t pay it any attention.
Some days, Jensen desperately wants to slam his laptop lid and launch the whole thing across the room just to see if Jared will notice. It’s not the silence that bothers him – they used to sit shoulder-to-shoulder and watch a game or read without a word all the time – but the stifling loneliness of sitting within arms’ reach of someone he can’t touch anymore.
Physically, they touch plenty but it’s hollow now. The connection has been severed and Jensen isn’t sure it can be restored.
Today, at work, Danneel asked him why he even bothers anymore if it’s so obvious that they’re not working. He shrugged, like he does when his mother asks him the same question, never says the words but the answer is pretty clear in his own mind: Thinking about leaving is the only thing that makes him feel worse than this.
Jensen has never been, will never be, the kind of guy who wants to sit down, hold his boyfriend’s hand, and talk for hours about their feelings. Jared is handsy as hell but he doesn’t exactly snuggle or cuddle, either. Jensen hates that they’ve drifted so far that he’s aching for Jared’s hand on his back and a simple look in the eye.
Maybe it’s pride that holds his tongue now, maybe it’s an overwhelming sense of defeat. There are a million things to say, yet Jensen stands without a word, sliding his computer onto the end table before he carries his beer bottle into the kitchen.
Standing by the sink, staring out at the back yard, Jensen’s head feels heavy on his shoulders. It’s only nine thirty but he could sleep. He should just head up the stairs and slip into bed, be asleep before Jared even joins him so they can avoid the inevitable hesitation that always seems to proceed any kind of sex these days.
With a final sigh of resignation, he scrubs his hand over his face and opens his eyes to find Jared dropping his bottle into the recycle bin. Jensen tracks his movement through the kitchen. He doesn’t reach for the dog leash on the hook or his iPod on the dock next to the door.
Instead, he casts a glance over his shoulder and extends his left hand, the platinum band on his ring finger catching the light. “Walk with me?”
With the smallest smile of hope, he slips his hand into Jared’s and nods. “Of course. Any time.”

Disclaimer; Brayden, Adrianne, and Jensen picking a gift for Jared 1/3
Date: 2010-12-11 02:02 am (UTC)*
“What the hell is all this?” Jensen asks, brow knitted in confusion as he looks around Brayden's living room.
Adrianne is sitting in a chair, blond curls piled high on her head while she chews on the end of a pencil. Shaking her head when she meets Jensen's eye, she returns to studying her Sudoku book with a soft smile. “Don't ask me,” she mutters, giving a soft nod toward the door, where Brayden is entering with his hands full of cardboard boxes.
Brayden huffs, dumping the final load onto the floor amidst what appears to be fifty other boxes. “I need your help,” he says, dropping to his knees with a melodramatic huff.
Taking a second to peruse Brayden's haul, Jensen kicks at a nearby box with his toe. “Who the fuck do you know that could possibly need a motorized tie rack?” he asks with an arched eyebrow.
“Man, you gotta tell me what to give Jay. Figure I'll just randomly slap names on the rest of it.”
Jensen looks around, confused. It would appear, at first glance, that the Sharper Image catalog threw up all over Brayden and Adrianne's living room floor. “The fuck is that?” He kicks at another box.
“It's a,” Brayden pauses and grabs the box, reading from it in response, “twelve in one survival tool,” he explains, flipping the box. “Includes a panic alarm, LED flashlight, digital FM radio, motion activated security alarm, red emergency flasher, cell phone charger, AC charging adapter input, compass, self-charging hand crank, signal mirror, thermometer, and lanyard.” He looks up at Jensen and asks, “The hell's a lanyard?”
“I don't know, give it to Tom,” Jensen instructs, sinking to the floor to grab another box.
“It's the string that's attached to the bottom,” Adrianne explains when Brayden lifts the tool into his hands and turns it over for further examination.
“What the hell?” Brayden asks, pulling on the small loop affixed to the bottom of the thing. “That doesn't count as one of the twelve things, does it? That's fucking lame as shit.”
“As opposed to how fucking cool the rest of it is?” Jensen asks, laughing while he checks out the golf swing video recorder. “Dude, this is the douchiest gift I've ever seen.”
Holding a relatively small box over his head, Brayden says, “Check this out.”
Jensen reads the label on the box. “Perfect Portions digital food scale.” He wants to bang his forehead against it before he finishes reading.
Luckily, Adrianne beats him to the punch. “If you give that to anyone we know, I will break up with you.”
“What?” Brayden snatches it back and clutches it defensively to his chest. “It's cool.” His attention span hasn't really gotten any longer over the years, so it's not a surprise when he dumps the scale and jumps to his feet. “Dude, you gotta see this,” he exclaims, running out of the room.
