Prompts Anyone?

Alright, guys. It's been a couple of months since I did one of these, but my muses are on life support or something right now. My writer's block is insane - made of brick and reinforced by steel or something - and I'm hoping that this will help.

So here's the deal: The only rule is that the fic you request will be 1000 words or less, so nothing so big that it can't be contained. No other rules or restrictions. As vague or specific as you want, and I will start working on them immediately.

I'd like to see some more Brayden/Jared or Brayden Jensen (or both) bonding. The kid being all messed up/insecure about something and the boys just being there for him in their unique, we might be your friends but we are also secretly your parents kind of way. Because I love them at their parenting best :)

Also, have we seen some decent Chris and Jensen BFF quality time recently? I think they should have some. Maybe Jen can needle him about the entire Daneel/Chris/Steve situation.

The fact that Steve isn't here should have tipped Jensen off to the fact that this isn't an official Kane show. Chris is just trying out some new songs on a familiar crowd, one he's been playing for since Jensen moved out here. This is the first bar they ever came to in Los Angeles, and its dirt floors are about as appealing to Jensen now as they were back then. Gas lamps light the walls. Gas lamps!

On the plus side, it's almost too dark for anyone to notice just how much he does not fit in here.

Chris only plays four songs, and then he stops at the bar to grab a couple of long-necks and chat up a barfly Jensen's pretty sure he wouldn't give the time of day, could he actually see her in this dingy wreck of a place.

When he drops into the chair across the table from Jensen and shovels his mass of hair from his face, he's grinning like the cat who just ate the goddamn canary. “Good show,” Jensen compliments, taking the beer Chris is offering. It's not his style, Chris's music never has been, but he can appreciate talent. Plus, Chris is supplying him with free beer, so who is he to bitch?

“Thanks, man. Been feelin' inspired lately, I guess,” Chris nods, eyes fixed on the bottle in his hand, like his mind is elsewhere.

Exactly where is something they don't talk about. Just like they don't talk about the fact that all four of the songs he just sang were about women with either jet black hair, shoulder tattoos, or an ass that won't quit. Or the fact that Chris has been home for going on three months now, and hasn't so much as mentioned his next tour. Used to, he wouldn't last three days without itching to be back out on the road.

Silence falls over the table, easy and comfortable. They've never been the guys that share their feelings or need to fill gaps in the conversation with unnecessary words. There's something about kicking back with a guy you've known almost your whole life, and just knowing that he gets it, whether you say it or not.

“Can I ask you a question, man?”

Jensen looks up when Chris breaks the silence. With a nod, he rolls the bottom of his bottle against the edge of the table. “Shoot.”

Hesitating for a second, Chris doesn't quite meet Jensen's eye when he finally asks, “You think you could spare Dani for a month or two in the winter? Like December, January? 'Round there?”

“Yeah?” Jensen's eyebrow raises. “Man, you are so far gone,” he shakes his head with a slight chuckle. “Least I can admit Jay's got me all wrapped around his finger.”

“Ain't his finger that boy's got you wrapped 'round. Never has been, Jenny.”

And maybe he's got a point, but Jensen is not changing this subject so easily. Not after years of listening to Chris give him shit about Jared and monogamy. “What happened to all that crap 'bout life gettin' boring with the same person for too long, huh?”

“I ain't sayin' I wanna marry her, idiot. Just take her on the road for awhile, maybe stop and visit my folks for the holidays, if we can fit it in, or somethin'.”

He doesn't want to roll his eyes like a fourteen-year-old girl, but Jensen kind of can't help it. “Dude, I don't know if I can let her go that long, though. I mean, not with someone who's not even man enough to admit what's goin' on here.”

It's kind of a douche move, but Chris's shoulders slump in defeat. “I ain't sayin' it's forever, alright? I don't do that shit, not like y'all do over at Casa True Love Always or whatever.” Jensen's lost track of how many nicknames Chris has for his house, but his personal favorite has always been the Monster Mansion of Man Meat.

“She's a good girl, Chris. With fucked up taste in guys usually. So if you're gonna do this with her, don't fuck it up.” He's not used to giving the 'big brother warning.' That's usually Chris's thing, but he's always been a little protective of Danneel. Doesn't matter who he's protecting her from.

That's when Jensen sees him cave completely. It's nearly imperceptible in the dim lighting, but Chris slumps further into his chair and relaxes his hold on the bottle in his hand. “Look, man, you know my style. I fuck around with a chick 'til I get bored, and then I move on. I got a short attention span.” With a softer smile than Jensen's used to seeing, Chris looks him dead in the eye and says, “Been goin' on five years we been doin' this dance, whatever it is, and I ain't bored yet. Figure that means somethin', okay?”

“Yeah, alright,” Jensen concedes. “If she wants to go away with your lame ass, I'm not gonna stop her.” He takes a drink and then tacks on the warning, “You bring her back knocked up and I'll bring out the shotgun, though.”

Chris rolls his eyes and smiles at the waitress who brings him another round. “Man, shut up and drink your free beer.”
