So I've spent the last two days bemoaning the fact that there's no hot water in my building until Monday, and coding my Big Bang. I know I don't post for another couple of weeks, but I'm getting too excited! The problem with all of this excitement is that I can't stop tweaking the story, and I'm about to reach the point where it does more harm than good to mess with it.

That's where y'all come in. I know it's Sunday, and everyone's probably otherwise busy, so this might fall completely flat. But I'm proposing another 'caring and sharing' meme. Here's what I'm thinking: Let's talk fic. More to the point, characters.

My question: If you could spend twenty-four hours with one fanfictional character, who would it be, and why?

My answer on this will probably change in about twenty minutes, but as of right now, I would choose the Jared in astrangerfate's BB, Things We Can't Untie. I'm not a huge fan of slave fic, but this is not your average slave fic. The moral, ethical, and political issues are what made it so fascinating for me, and this Jared - so strong in his submission - is a guy that I would love to spend a little time getting to know. From the deleted scene at the end of the story: “Whatever you do, make it big. I thought that the Revolution needed my words. Well, I was wrong. The Revolution doesn’t need words. It needs Molotovs. Thank you.”

On a slightly related note, sort of, I just finished fleshflutter's spy fic, Someone You Might Have Been. For many of the same reasons listed above, I'd take twenty-four hours with her Jensen, so desperate to believe in something, to sacrifice himself to something that matters, but being so unsure of just what that something is anymore. From chapter 23: ". . .I mean people didn't catch Jensen's attention like causes did. By the time I met him, he'd gone through wanting to save the whales, wanting to save the ozone layer and was right up to wanting to save the world."

I guess my kink for people who are totally sold out to the causes they believe in is showing, huh?

So what about you? I'm anxious to hear who sticks with y'all, and why you're so drawn to those characters. Feel free to disagree with my selections - I'm all for everyone feeling free to express their own opinions, whatever those opinions may be!

I would like to spend 24 hours with the nyxie's Jensen from "But Then My Homework Was Never Quite Like This." Why??? Uhmmm just to talk see if I could get in that thick Dom! shell of his. Or maybe Jared From Your Disclaimer 'Verse. I mean that not to suck up to you but because he really facinates me...and I'd love to get a tat from him.

Hm. I think you'd have a hard time getting to know that Jensen in 24 hours. You'd probably have a hard time getting that Jensen to talk to you in 24 hours. Be an interesting experiment, though, for sure.

I don't feel like you're sucking up - I didn't propose this question to make anyone feel like they had to mention my characters, but I trust that you guys know that about me by now - I'm glad he fascinates you. Again, I'm not sure how much you'd learn about the guy inside the shell, but he'd definitely show you a good time. ;)

I was going to say Jared from disclaimer for much the same reason - I think I'd rather meet Jensen more, but if I met Jared I might actually get the damn tattoo I've been waffling about forever. (I'd at least trust him to do it properly, and he might have some interesting ideas to make it really special.)

(I want something based on a paw print I have from one of my pet rats. I was thinking of maybe just a series of paw prints up my spine, like a rat had run through paint and then up my back. But I have crappy skin that responds weirdly to things, so I plan is to start with just one paw print to see how it heals. But then I start pondering actual tattoo places and get all freaked out by if they're doing things properly or not.) (Having a mother who is a nurse who delights in telling you horror stories = BAD THING.)

Well maybe I'm not gonna be very original, but seriously ? 24 hours ? Of course I'll spend it with Jensen from that verse caled Disclaimer verse ? Maybe you've heard of it... And no I'm not saying this to please you, but because Jensen is the coolest character of all.
We'll hang out at work to see his new collection, then he'll show me some moves at the skate park, then we'll go home, hang around the pool and eat take out at the end of the day ;o) Of course my luck will be to meet Jared in the same time, difficult to see Jensen without seeing his other half sometimes during the day ;o)

Also if I have a secnd choice to make, I would like to spend a day in the tour bus of Chris/Steve/Jensen and Jared from the verse called "The Tour verse". I like this verse and it's universe. Of course it would be cheating cause I'll have to hang with all the characters, but hey who cares ? ;o)

I highly recommend both of the fics I mentioned - I had seen the Spy Verse recced a thousand times, and I remember trying to get into it once before, but this time it kind of hooked me and wouldn't let go.

I love smarty-pants Jensen, too, so I'll have to check that verse out, too. I think I've heard about it, but never read it.

The one character that popped into my mind was Jensen from thenyxie's Homework 'verse. I think he is one of the most fascinating characters within fanfic, the layers and the obsessions he got is just...wow. And also the pure intelligence of the character, the dry wit and the way he is a slave to his own mind at times.
I don't know how many times I have read that story, it get's to me every single time.

I have to agree with you on Jared from Things We Can't Untie, that story really got to me, and Jared's strength was stunning. I did hesitate to read it cause slave fic isn't my thing, but dystopians really are so I caved in and I am very happy that I did.

I won't argue that the Homework Verse Jensen is intriguing. I'm still not sure you'd get anything out of him in 24 hours, but I understand the desire to know more, to dig deeper.

I didn't realize how much I liked dystopian fic until I read Things We Can't Untie and Kant's Dove, one right after the other. Now I want MORE!

Honestly, I think I would love to be with Jared from longsufferingly's When You Care Enough To Hit Send verse. I, clearly, wouldn't do anything sexual with him, but his character is so realistic, I seriously feel like I could run into him and he would act exactly the same in my world as he does in his. I don't really know how to describe it, I guess I just feel this sort of connection to him. He's a lot like me, or who I would be in a situation like his. And I am narcissistic and would like to be around people who are like me. :D

It's funny you mention the When You Care Enough to Hit Send Jared, because I was thinking that I'd love to hang out with neurotic, easily-embarrassed, socially-awkward Jensen from that 'verse when I posted this. Anybody in that 'verse, really. It's one of my go-to happy place fic, when I need a quick, smiley pick-me-up.

And you can have your twenty-four hours locked in the pool house with Brayden, but I absolutely do not want to hear about it. La La La La La. (I still see him as that twelve-year-old from the first story.)

I'd like to spend 24 hours with the Jensen in Felisblanco's The Doors of Time. He's such an amazing character caught up in a world that doesn't understand the things he can do. A day living in a world where magic and music are so intertwined would just be mindblowing. :-)

Man, that would be pretty cool. My only concern would be Jared and Chris hovering to make sure nothing happens to Jensen - that might get annoying. But otherwise, yeah, I think it'd be pretty cool.

I really do love your Disclaimer Verse. And right off the bat, I thought I’d choose your Jared. Because he is so put together on the outside; protective in a way that seems natural. But I think deep down, he tries so hard to keep Jensen happy and is worried he won’t be to Bray what Jared wishes his family was to him. I’d like to just sit down with him and let him talk my ear off about any and everything under the sun.

Also I’d love to get 24 hours with your Jensen from the Creative Control verse and Eviltwin & Bloody Adorable’s Jensen from their Smoke & Lightning Verse. The Jensen from your CC Verse is so damaged and yet he feels he’s some-what okay. But not okay enough that he can turn away Jared’s help. Evil & Adorable’s Jensen knew he needed Jared and was open to it from the beginning. I love their Jensen’s journey. They’re still working on that verse, so he’s still growing.

I do love all the others that the previous comments have mentioned too. Gosh, so hard to choose!!

You have an interesting take on CC Jensen - I love hearing people's perspective on him because his relationship with Jared is so much more complex than the Disclaimer guys. It's fascinating to me.

I haven't read the Smoke & Lightning verse, so I can't really debate that one with you, but I know a lot of people really dig it, so I'm sure you're not alone in wanting to hang with him!!

I would have to say i'm kind of tied.
One would be Jensen in annella's Counting the Steps to the Door of Your Heart (http://annella.livejournal.com/1061203.html) Cause awkward, physical therapist Jensen is just too fantastic with his lifesize Dalek costume.

The tied one (and this is just a quick cursory glance through my fave!Faves) is Jared from elless18's 'A Place in This World'. Cause he's singledad! Jared. and I have a ridiculous spot for the boys with kids and it's just such a cute little world that's put together.

My runner's up would be Jensen from the 'Your Brain is No Match for my Tractorbeam" *draws hearts* or Genvieve from Disclaimer! if nothing else for the very shallow possibility of making out with her LOL

Ha! My favorite part of Counting the Steps to the Door of Your Heart is when Jensen is trying to work on his bedside manner with Steve. Cracks me up every time. Though, I'll be honest, I didn't even know what a Dalek was when I first read it.

I considered Tractorbeam Jensen for my list, too! But I'm pretty sure that he would have no patience for someone following him around all day. ;) And, seriously, the chances of Disclaimer Genevieve making out with you are pretty much one hundred percent because 1.) You're female, and 2.) You're willing.

Ohhhh, I had to skim your opening post cause I'm halfway through Fayjay's podfic for 'Someone You Might Have Been' so I hope I have this right (Dude, it's nearly 12 hours long!)

I started writing this with the absolutely idea that mine would have to be one of the characters from Eviltwin and Bloody Adorable's 'Smoke and Lightning'!Verse. Probably Jensen cause he's just so adorable and amazing in that :-)

But after reading the comments I'm torn cause Jensen from Felisblanco's 'The Doors Of Time'!Verse is amazing. And, I would definately want Jared from 'Disclaimer' to ink me (yes, I said ink... dirty minds! ;-P )

Its funny to see so many people wanting to spend their time with Homework!Jensen. That is one person I'd never choose. I might want to go sex toy shopping with him but other than that? Not interested.

He is such a larger than life person. With an enthusiasm for life. I'd love to be close to that for a day.

But top of the list is Jensen from "In From the Cold" by ladyjanelly!
As an artist who hates art(...huh) I'd love to see the work he makes.
Talk with him about forms and shapes without the arty farty pretense most artist wrap themselves in. I'd really want to see him work. He is so driven and has the insatiable urge to create more. Very intriguing person!
There are more who I'd love to spend time with but I'd have to dig farther trough my bookmarks for that.

Very interesting choices, and two that I would have never even thought of myself. I Taught Your Boyfriend Jared would be great - he IS larger than life, and just kind of owns who he is. I love that about him. And In From the Cold Jensen? YES. I'm not an artist at all, but his focus and the way he throws himself into whatever he does would be amazing. You could take him out to look for pieces he could use - just walk around the city with him, seeing it through his eyes. I think that would be fascinating - good choice!
