I'm Far Too Obsessed

I am far too obsessed with the internet! When I got home from work tonight, our wireless was down. I gave it awhile to come back up and when it didn't, I packed my laptop into the car and came back to work to check my e-mail. Can't even make it through a night! What is wrong with me?

Maybe this is the universe's way of telling me that I should stop spending so much time on lj and actually write my threesome fic? Ugh. Fuck technology!

(Also, it probably says something about me that, in my quest to post something every day this month, I'm offering a half-assed apology for not responding to comments until tomorrow. Next month, maybe I'll aim for something of substance every day.)

That's how I felt when I was on vacation at my parents' house. They don't have internet at all, so I felt like I was trapped in a cave or something!

Oh I totally understand! I'm not above going to the library for free internet if mine is down (or I forget to pay the bill *grin*) And don't worry about posting something of substance. I'm the exact same way! Thankfully my cellphone has unlimited internet now and I can check LJ when I'm out and about. (it's scary how addicted to LJ I am)

The internet still wasn't back up this morning. /o\ Fortunately, I do have it here at work, so I'm not completely cut off. But buying the plan on my phone is seeming more and more reasonable!!

I understand not being able to make it through the night. I only have internet at work and often I'm really, really tempted to go to the library on my days off to check in with the rest of the world. And sometimes I do.

Until about a year and a half ago, I only had the internet at work, too. Back then, it was no big deal because I wasn't used to having it at home. Now, I kind of feel like I'm going to lose my mind. It's amazing how addicted you can get in just a little bit of time!

There have been days where it's easy to think of something to post, and days when I feel like whatever I'm putting out there is just kind of pointless, but it's been an interesting personal challenge. I blame spn_30snapshots - I was so afraid I was going to lose momentum that I decided I needed to write and post something every day. Now I'm kind of obsessed by it.

It's weird - if I'm at home and I get hungry, there's no food in the house and it's eight o'clock, I usually think to myself, "I would go get food, but I'm already in for the night and it's getting kind of late." My internet goes out and I can't connect at 8:00? I'm throwing on shoes and running out the door to go find service without a second thought. That's probably not healthy.
