Grrrrr Mondays

So, I have spoken with my
spn_reversebang artist (You guys, I'm SO EXCITED!) and got that story kicked off yesterday afternoon. I also go my
spn_j2_xmas assignment last night! Oh, I can't wait to get started on that one - There Will Be Schmoop. My femslash exchange is giving me fits, but I think I'll be able to wrap it up before November. I was looking at my list of things to do and while I don't feel like I'm overwhelmed, I do feel like I have got to stop signing up for things!
Also, I feel like I've been a terrible fandom friend lately. I haven't been posting much and I feel like I've been in my own little world for a few weeks now. Between my sister having her baby and then nearly everyone in my family having birthdays and other big events in the month of September, it's been non-stop around here. I keep thinking, 'Remember when I used to blow off everything and just lock myself away to write and talk to people online? Where did those days go?'
So how are you guys doing? What's new with you? Anything exciting that I might have missed in the last month? Have you seen any good movies or read anything interesting - books or fic? Any television shows you're getting into now that the new seasons have started? Any new actors or actresses I should be watching for?

Date: 2010-09-27 09:48 pm (UTC)Luckily in english today there was all around confusion as to what we were supposed to be writing about. I got a draft typed up and printed, and though I missed peer editing she didn't mark me or anyone else down. And she moved the due date to next monday. \o/ Thank god, 'cause she's firm on the NO LATE WORK rule.

Date: 2010-09-27 02:23 pm (UTC)I watched Merlin, series 1, but I haven't seen anything beyond that yet. I really enjoyed the first series, though. What year are they up to on television?

Date: 2010-09-27 03:03 pm (UTC)Between the heat making me stupid and being in the same place as Jared my hands where shaking too much so I didn't take pics but man, it was so awesome.
Pete's going to be a nice way to end this music tour.

Date: 2010-09-27 03:06 pm (UTC)And yeah, Pete will be a nice, mellow ending. And maybe Scarlet will show up for a couple songs?

Date: 2010-09-27 03:04 pm (UTC)I'm currently unemployed but doing my Masters in Education fulltime, following on from my qualifying as a teacher last year, so I'm trying to find a part time job that won't clash with my Uni studies and will not demand I work every weekend or else I'll have no social life. Not that I really have one as such without any monies but meh.
TV wise? I don't really watch tv. I'm one of these people that will happily wait till things come out on boxset or I have several episodes saved up so I am not forced to wait an entire week. It boils down to me being incapable of waiting. I;ve not even finished Season 5 of SPN yet (though I know what happens) because the thought of Hellatus was too much.
On a random note I'm a little bit excited that Stephen Fry is apparently going to be starring in Sherlock Holmes 2 though and I'm going to my first ever music concert in November.

Date: 2010-09-27 08:05 pm (UTC)Like you, I'm a big fan of boxsets! In fact, aside from SPN and White Collar, that's pretty much my preferred method of viewing everything. I'm not good with the waiting between episodes!

Date: 2010-09-27 09:28 pm (UTC)Glad to see I'm not the only impatient one with tv shows. My friends all think I'm odd because I will purposely miss several episodes so that I can have them saved up. Not to mention I cannot stand adverts.

Date: 2010-09-27 10:39 pm (UTC)But! my sister recommended me to watch Six Feet Under, she says it's a reallly really good show, and I might start watching True Blood too. Maybe.
Also, I watch snippets of the show Hellcats cause Gale Harold (actor from Queer as Folk) is in it. I'm a complete dork for him. XD
And of course, I'm an avid watcher of Supernatural^_____^

Date: 2010-09-28 02:03 am (UTC)I loved Six Feet Under in the first season. True Blood season 1 disc 1 sat on top of my television for, like, three months and I never could get myself to pop it in and watch it. I don't know why - I keep thinking I should try it, but I just don't care. :(
no subject
Date: 2010-09-28 03:04 am (UTC)And I keep hearing a lot about True Blood, and while I admit it never really caught my attention before, I have gotten kinda curious, I wanna see an episode just to see what all the hype is about.
hey, out of curiosity, have you ever heard of an old show called American Gothic? With Gary Cole?
no subject
Date: 2010-09-28 05:50 am (UTC)But yeah, it's smart, fun, sexy...if you like a bunch of sex, blood and violence mixed in with a ton of supernatural storylines? It's totally the show for you. I own Seasons 1 and 2, mainly because I don't have cable. :(
You should totally check it out!

Date: 2010-09-28 04:24 pm (UTC)I probably will sometime during the break from college;)
AFter all, there's nothing like sex, blood and violence with supernatural storylines^____^

Date: 2010-09-28 09:19 pm (UTC)American Gothic sounds vaguely familiar, but I don't think I really watched it. Why?
no subject
Date: 2010-09-28 11:39 pm (UTC)I used to watch it a while back, and I thought it was amazing, probably the best horror/gothic show before Supernatural.

Date: 2010-09-28 02:27 am (UTC)Chem. Blech. Math and science were never my strong suits!
Were you glad you made it a point to watch the show last week? I haven't said much about my opinion one way or the other, but I'm curious as to what other people think.
no subject
Date: 2010-09-28 02:52 am (UTC)yeah mine either, math I can do, I mean of course it takes some learning how to do it but I can do it. This Chem shit is fucking blowing my mind, I have no idea how I'm gonna do it.
I think that in the long run SPN will either dissapoint or it will not, either way I will watch because it is the last season. I didn't like Dean, he made me just kinda laugh at him, just kinda like "wtf" Sam I actually liked his attitude, it's kinda like he finally realized that as much as he wants Dean he doesn't HAVE to have him, he CAN take care of himself, he kinda grew up a bit. His attitude was similar to his cousins, the loner, take no bs, I can do it myself attitude, and I appreciated it, he's been leaning on Dean for 5 seasons, it's about time he grows up.
I would like to know what you thought?

Date: 2010-09-28 09:32 pm (UTC)There are things about the episode that I loved and there were things that really bothered me. All in all, I felt a little unfulfilled, but I'm anxious to see where things are headed.

Date: 2010-09-28 05:37 am (UTC)I completely understand about the new babies taking over your life. It's quite easy for them to do so. And they're worth it, too!
Nothing much has been going on with me. Had a check-up at the doctor today for my ankle/foot and thing are progressing well. If they keep in the same track, so surgery for me! :D

Date: 2010-09-28 09:45 pm (UTC)I'm so glad to hear about your ankle/foot is doing better!

Date: 2010-09-28 05:41 am (UTC)Nope. Not much is new. lol
Oh...I got hooked up with a personal trainer. (no, not that way. Get your mind outta the gutter!) but he seems totally nice and hopefully he'll be able to help guide me to a leaner, healthier me! w00h00!
Um...well over the weekend I did watch The ToothFairy (with the Rock) and The Men Who Stare at Goats (with George Clooney and Jeff Bridges). Both of them were absolutely HILARIOUS and I 100% recommend them! IN fact...the Men who Stare at Dogs got me to going on an SPN fic idea (or it would work for J2 as well). But they are both funny as hell.
Um....I've decided on what my halloween costume for work is going to be! Me and a few other people are doing our own versions of the Addams family...there's going to be adult stripper Wednesday, Naughty Morticia, Gomez, Pugsly...and I'M going to be...GOTH ROCK SUPERSTAR UNCLE FESTER! hahaaha (and none of them know it yet, but I will be shaving my head to do this. I KNOW! right?)
Um...so yeah. I guess that's pretty much all that's been happening with me. OH! I'm still working on your b-day fic...looks like it's going to be a super belated b-day fic...but it will get there, I promise! LoL

Date: 2010-09-28 09:49 pm (UTC)I've heard that The Men Who Stare at Goats is hysterical. I haven't checked it out yet, but I'm going to go add it to my Netflix cue!
You have to send me a picture when you shave your head! I have to see that!

Date: 2010-09-29 01:08 am (UTC)Definitely put the Men Who Stare at Goats in your queue. It's definitely worth checking out.
LOL....yeah okay. I'll do it for you...

Date: 2010-09-28 08:48 pm (UTC)But there'll be the first niece or nephew in eight months as well, so all is good ^____^
I had the pleasure of watching the new Julia Roberts movie ('Eat, Pray, Love'), and I was pleasantly surprised. Very moving, great acting (I Love Julia Roberts ^.^), sometimes the cut of the movie was a bit rocky, and some scenes could have been longer. But I enjoyed it greatly (and shed a few tears, I know) and would highly recommend it.
Have a beautiful week and plenty of sunshine (even if it's only in our heads at the moment *sigh*).
Hugs, Mutzel

Sunshine to you, too, sweetie! Thank you so much!
