So, I woke up at 5:30 this morning with an upset stomach and starting watching The World Series of Poker on ESPN, as you do, until it was time to get ready for work. It was there that I heard this quote (I have no idea who to credit for this as I know nothing about the pro Poker circuit. I know he was wearing a hat. And sunglasses.): "Lady Luck hangs out with the guys who practice hard." So, uh, let that inspire you? I don't know, I just liked it. I was also sick, so take it for what it's worth, I guess.

So, I decided to pinch hit for the spn_fs_exchange and am currently putting the finishing touches on that fic, then I'm clear until j2_afterclass in January. Well, I have a hs_bingo card to play with but it's not due until May so I'm, ya know, procrastinating.

I ♥ you guys, but I suck at holiday cards and gifts. What I can do is comment fic. Here are the stipulations:

1.) Fic will be roughly 1000 words.
2.) No pairing is off-limits.
3.) You can request more than one prompt but I can only promise one fill per person, so make sure the fic you most want to see is prompted first.
4.) Prompts can be holiday-themed but they don't have to be, unless they come from the Disclaimer 'verse.

Disclaimer: Chris/Danneel/Steve cooking together

The first thing Danneel notices when she wakes up is that she's alone; in this house, that almost never happens. Stretching her arms over his head, she takes a minute to appreciate the silence, pressing her face into a pillow and smiling when the smell of Chris' shampoo kisses her face.

As much as she would love to stay in bed all day, it's nearly noon and they have to head over to Jensen's for dinner in a few hours.

Standing, she twists and stretches until she hears her joints popping before making her way to the bathroom. She's never been a huge fan of country music but the sound of it permeating the house means her guys are in the kitchen and that's never a bad thing.

Dressed in a tiny, red and green pleated skirt and giant green combat boots, she skips down the stairs, wet hair piled onto her head and held in place with a couple of chopsticks. “Smells good,” she announces from the doorway, taking a second to enjoy the way Chris and Steve move in tandem at the counter.

Chris smiles over his shoulder, both hands busy in front of him, and nods toward the island. “Steve's breakfast casserole is warmin' in the oven.” He winks, catches his lip between his teeth, looks her over with an approving smile. “Shit, come here first.”

Sauntering toward them, she revels in the way his eyes feel on her, the way Steve's join in the appreciation as she gets closer. They have an entire assembly line laid out on the counter, knives in hand, efficiently preparing the dishes they have to take to dinner later. It's kind of amazing to watch them work in the studio but Danneel loves that she gets to see their teamwork here, too.

“You look awesome,” Chris laughs when she gets close enough to kiss. He turns from the counter, drops his knife on the cutting board and rests his forearms on her shoulders, making sure to keep his hands away from her hair when he kisses her.

“I'm not even dressed yet,” she protests, pulling away before she has to wrap her legs around his waist and ride him to the floor.

With an impish grin, his voice dropped low and playful, he nods slowly. “I know.”

He's not the first guy to flirt with her or tell her that she's beautiful. He's the first one that makes her flush down to her toes with his compliments, though. Danneel still isn't sure why that is but she'd be lying if she said she doesn't appreciate it just the same.

“So,” she says with a sigh, running her hands over her thighs as she squishes in between them at the counter, “What can I do to help?”

The twin looks of apprehension that she gets from either side are not appreciated.

“Here,” Steve suggests, hands on her hips as he moves to his other side and slides a backing pan filled with empty mushroom caps in front of her. “Just pop a spoonful of this,” he instructs, tossing a handful of chopped parsley into a bowl of feta cheese before he pushes it in her direction, “into each of those.”

So maybe Danneel's not the best cook among them but she can handle filling mushrooms. It doesn't matter that they're not as meticulous and perfect-looking as they would be if the guys did the job; it's not like anyone at this party is going to look at the damn things before inhale them anyway. Plus, it feels good to be included in this thing they love so much and she could listen to them harmonize along with the radio forever.

When everything is in the oven or chilling in the fridge, the dishwasher is loaded, Chris grabs the bottle of wine he bought for today and pours three glasses. They silently toast and Danneel squeaks when Chris pulls her to his chest, presses a kiss to the top of her head.

“Next year, I say we skip the party and just make our own Christmas dinner at home,” Steve suggests.

Rolling his eyes, Chris runs his hand down the smooth line of Danneel's back and shoots Steve an incredulous look. “You love Jay's grilled turkey,” he says.

Steve nods and lets his eyes travel unabashedly over Dannel's body, pausing to take in the lacy red bra she's wearing with her skirt and boots. “Yeah, but Danneel has to wear clothes there.” Cutting his eyes to Christian, he adds, “You have to wear clothes there. Clothes do not make for a merry Christmas.” Sipping from his glass, he swallows and then adds, “I'm just sayin'.”

While Danneel can't deny that she loves the annual Christmas dinner at Jared and Jensen's place, Steve's suggestion has some merit. “I'm with Steve. Next year, just us.”

Chris looks at both of them for a long minute before his shoulders fall in defeat. “Yeah, alright. Next year, just us.”

"her guys" LOVE THAT. it's so sexy and sweet at the same time. and i'm glad im not the only person who thinks chop sticks are great as hair accessories.
