raeschae: (CODA - Red)
Fic title: Coda
Author: [livejournal.com profile] raeschae
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] maichan808
Genre: RPS AU
Pairing: J2
Rating: NC-17
Word count: ~35,000
Warnings/Spoilers: reference to an historical hate crime, an instance of infidelity, and brief Jensen/OMC and Jared/OMC

Summary: Laying your heart on the line while drunk off your ass is never a good idea, and nobody knows that better than Jensen, editor-in-chief of Coda Online. But a fifth of whiskey and one incredibly wasted blog post does give him the chance to rebuild his friendship with Jared, who he hasn't spoken to in two years. Now all he has to do is convince Jared that he's not the same guy he was in college, which may prove difficult since Jared's not, either.

A few people already know that last year's Big Bang is what hooked me into this fandom in the first place. I remember thinking it was an awesome challenge, but that there were too many rules for someone with my track record of missing deadlines and flaking under pressure.

Cut to January, when I got this insane notion that I should actually give this year's challenge a shot. So I signed up, got to writing, and actually finished. The problem I didn't foresee was having to sit on the story, and the concept, until summer. Keeping my mouth shut about this one has been INSANELY hard!

Even more impossible? Shutting up for the days between the artist claims, and the reveal. But now that the cat's out of the bag, I can tell you guys two things:

1.) The story is called Coda, and the summary is as follows:
Jensen runs a music website based out of Chicago, with a focus on indie bands looking for their big break. Jared works for a national music magazine based out of New York, and occasionally lends his face and opinion to VH1 compilation shows (think Best Week Ever, I Love the 90's, etc.) Jensen accidentally outing himself on his website serves as a catalyst for repairing their relationship, which fell apart back in college.

2.) My artist is . . . wait for it . . . the amazingly talented [livejournal.com profile] maichan808! Are you kidding me? Do y'all even know what a BLESSING this is? I am so excited - we've already kicked some ideas around, and I think the end results will blow your freakin' minds.

I'm in the process of re-writing some things right now, and the posting schedule is supposed to be up some time this week. There are a bunch of stories I can't wait to read! This summer is going to rock so hard!!!

Hey all!

Feels like forever since I posted. (It's probably been something closer to a week, but time moves differently in lj land, it seems.) Things around here have been NUTS. Between my family coming into town for a baby shower, starting a new something (it's a little too early to call it a relationship), and general RL nonsense, my writing has gotten pushed to the side a bit.

BUT. . .

With the claiming of Big Bang artists yesterday, I'm feeling recharged and excited! I'm about half-way through my re-writes (hoping to finish up tonight and Saturday afternoon), and my artist? Y'all, she is gonna blow your minds! I can't wait to be able to reveal this story, and everything that goes along with it.

I do have a couple of other stories I'm working on: an adaptation of the movie Adam, at the behest of [livejournal.com profile] krisd81, and a surfer fic with a bad-ass soundtrack, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] taintedlove.

With Big Bang coming, I might hold off on posting anything long until the fall, but hopefully, I will get some One Shot ideas in the interim. My brain's been a barren desert where bunnies die of dehydration for about a month now. Maybe I'll post for prompts soon. Or maybe I'll stop thinking about anything else until my BB is done. That seems like the better idea. ;)

Alright, I'm going to slink back to my corner and work on Scattergories topics. If anyone asks, it's totally for work and has nothing to do with [livejournal.com profile] kiwiana.

(OH! Does anyone know of a J2 adaptation of the HBO series Entourage? Or anything remotely close in concept?)

So yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] vamphile asked me to make her an icon to celebrate the fact that she finished her Big Bang. As is usually the case, I went a little overboard.

Feel free to take whatever you want and/or need! Also, custom icons can be made per request, so let me know if you want one that says something else - I'm happy to oblige!

So I haven't had much to say, or post, lately. A few oners here and there, but I've been mostly keeping to myself. Well, keeping to myself and bugging the hell out of a few of you. This is because I've been on a roll with my Big Bang story. Yeah, the one I was freaking out about less than a month ago.

I was totally prepared to put it on the back burner and forget about it until, like, April. Ready to freak the fuck out, quite frankly, when the deadline was approaching and I was nowhere near done. I am absolutely terrible with deadlines. My [livejournal.com profile] pictures2words entry? I didn't even start on until two days before it was due. Procrastination is usually my middle name.

So mark your calendars because this? This is a shocking day, more than likely never to be seen again. Today, February 1st, I finished the first draft of my Big motherfuckin' Bang. It's about 500 words shy of 30K and I think it's pretty good. I love this incarnation of the boys a lot, and [livejournal.com profile] taintedlove and [livejournal.com profile] ldyghstwhisprer have both assembled the most kick-ass soundtracks for my inspiration.

Of course, now I have three months to sit on this thing and not say anything about it. Also, to freak out and decide that it's all bull shit and I should just start over with a new concept - so don't celebrate for me yet. I may still be pulling my hair out and cursing this deadline by April. ;)

As of now, though, I'm walking on air. I know y'all don't know how big this is for me, but I suck at commitment and deadlines and boundaries. I feel like this is a pretty big accomplishment for me.

Now I can start working on some stuff that can actually be posted in the meantime. Next up, for those of you who might be wondering, is a Disclaimer OneShot, and then possibly another Creative Control timestamp. And I think I'm going to start cultivating an old idea for a chapter story dealing with some overtly religious themes.

For now, I'm going to take a nap. I kinda feel like I earned it.
